Seen my biopic doc about blind sax player Mick Beck yet?  Click above to view trailer and rent it for the price of a coffee, or go to www.mickbeck.com/themovie to download a huge package of stuff as well.  Enjoy, it took me five years to make!  We got there in the end and many people tell me it was worth it.  I think so too.

ps. If the frame looks a bit tiny in the theme don’t sweat, just click the link above instead. Cheers! : )

Commulogue

I’m co-facilitating a Bohmian Dialogue day at the Beshara School in Scotland, with Hester Reeve on June 30th. If you’re interested in deep communication, please come for what promises to be an exciting and thought-provoking weekend! I’m very interested in the potential for dialogue especially in context of non-dual approaches.

Adi Shankaracharya

image

I’m watching, piece by piece, the lengthy and wonderful dramatised life-story of founder of Advaita Vedanta, Sri Shankara (Adi Shankaracharya) - the first feature film every filmed entirely in the ancient Sanskrit language.  It’s a wonderful movie you can see on Youtube which tells the story of the origin of this most mystical and wonderful spiritual path, Advaita Vedanta, which means the non-dual / pure consciousness of Self achieved through realisation of the all-pervading Atman and Brahman.  Non-duality is effecting many people at this time and the internet is playing a large part in uniting and disseminating wisdom of many new teachers.  This new wave of awakening isn’t without it’s drawbacks of course, there are two sides to everything (although that’s the ‘dual view’!).  So it’s really good for me, as well as coming from a 25 year Sufi background, to gain new perspectives on self-realisation: One God, many Paths.  Many beautiful things happen when one is on the path of faith and opens up to the mystery of creation.

Ukrainian Mustang Wanted is a real daredevil who likes to be photographed while suspended in the air at a dizzying height. Impressive photos and unusual to discover images in the future.

Scary!

There’s just no need for it.  But I bet he’s on Carooba…

Carooba Life: Why do we make Carooba?

caroobalife:

Carooba creator Jonny Drury has been eating the ‘black gold’ for around 25 years

Back in the late 80’s, while out hiking in the Turkish mountains, coming across a secret lodge and being warmly invited in, a group of Sufi mystics that evening shared their ancient, secret recipe with him….

Palm oil

Palm kernel oil sounds harmless and even “natural,” right? And in recent years, it’s been finding its way into many packaged foods as manufacturers look for low-cost oils to replace trans fats. (After federal rules mandated all packaged foods list the amount of heart-damaging trans fats they contain on their “Nutrition Facts” labels, many manufacturers reformulated their products to ferret out the offending fat and earn a better-looking label.) Highly saturated fats turn rancid more slowly, so food companies often use them to help preserve taste and texture. Trans-fat-free—and relatively inexpensive—palm oil fit the bill. Its long shelf life and semi-solid state at room temperature make it appealing to food companies.
